
David is a veteran of the wine business, having having received his Juris Doctor from Purdue University’s Purdue Global Law School following a 25-year career in wine production and industry support. Prior to joining The Law Offices of James F. DeMartini in February 2024, David worked in winemaking and compliance in California’s North Coast, Eastern Washington State, and Ontario, Canada’s Niagara Peninsula, and supported clients across the United States and Canada.
Since 2012, in addition to the technical aspects of wine production, David has focused on the various regulatory compliance issues faced by food and beverage producers and industry suppliers, specifically those connected to the Food & Drug Administration, the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax & Trade Bureau, and California’s Department of Public Health. David’s practice areas include civil litigation, small business support, cannabis cultivation compliance, food import and export regulations, and regulatory approvals for the food and beverage industries.
David’s pre-law education includes a Bachelor of Science in Oenology and Viticulture from Brock University’s Cool Climate Oenology & Viticulture Institute and numerous food production and safety certifications. Originally from the Niagara Falls area of Canada, David lives in Sonoma County with his wife, son, and a pair of rescue terriers.
